The lyrics to “Ooh baby I like it raw?” come to mind as I’m writing this review. As I break off another square from my dark chocolate bar, I notice the first two ingredients on the wrapper read “With Love and Gratitude”. This label pretty much sums up what goes into this cosmic creation. Giddy Yoyo is the name of the game and I’m definitely joining in on the fun. When you read this warm and fuzzy under the ingredients label you have a pretty good idea that nothing less than extra-ordinary will come from this cutting-edge company. Giddy Yoyo is apart of the raw revolution and they really bring it with their newest baby!
I was at the Toronto Veggie Food Festival on the weekend and made a few memorable stops that I think is worth mentioning. One vendor in particular that really stood out was Giddy Yoyo, a Canadian company based in Orangeville. Founded by Mark Handy and Brigitte Longshore, this fantastic duo share in the belief that all things good should be raw, wild, organic, fairly traded, vegan, non-GMO, and nutritious. The partnership of these two talented chocolatiers have successfully created a line of raw chocolate bars that are made from pure dark chocolate and select body care products sourced from the best ingredients. Their joint belief is to heal yourself through pleasure and nourishment. Feeling inspired to get acquainted with more of what they had to offer, I decided to reach for the Raw Love Butter on display since the name and hot pink label caught my eye. Let me just say, getting “giddy” with it happens when you twist off the lid and discover a chocolately dream about to come true. Must be the tryptophan in the cacao working it’s magic making you feel overall good inside and out.
As an admitted chocoholic, I knew I had found what I have been dreaming of. Dessert in a jar sourced from raw ice-pressed ingredients. Which means during the manufacturing process, the oils are extracted using an ice-pressed method which makes a huge difference in terms of the taste and healing properties by not altering the raw, original state of the oils. This luxurious creamy blend of cacao butter, ice-pressed olive oil, coconut oil, and vanilla beans is just the right combination of smooth, soft, and sensual. You “nailed” it with this one Mark and Bridgette! The marriage of these basic ingredients co-exist so happily together, each working to compliment the other in such a humble way. This mouth-watering concoction warms up to the touch and melts on your skin leaving you smelling like chocolate fudge!
I’ve tried countless products for various needs, some of my own, and some of my family’s, and I have yet to find the “one” product to take the spot on the shelf for all to share. I love that everyone can use this all-purpose butter, minimizing the clutter from having to keep numerous products lying around with each barely serving a single purpose. This product speaks volumes for itself; the simplicity of this balm is cost-effective, multi-functional, safe, and efficient. This is the ultimate all-in-one creation for any chocolate lover who wants better looking and feeling skin.
We can even curb those chocolate cravings and satisfy that sweet tooth we often get from feeling fatigued. Just to clarify, I don’t mean you should go spreading it on your morning toast (even though you totally could), but you can smother yourself with this delicious layer of silk cacao from head to toe. Literally, it works miracles on chapped lips, dry skin, unruly/damaged hair, shaving balm (even for hubby), massage oil, lube, baby bump rub to avoid stretch marks, diaper rash ointment, and pre and post-suncare. Taboot, this super absorbent balm soaks in the antioxidants through the skin to ward of free radicals.
Remember my post on safe alternatives to chemically-saturated sun protection? Well, since this awesomeness contains rich coconut oil you can safely and effectively use it as a sunscreen as well! Since I’m all about keeping my son safe and away from harmful toxins, I can now slather him up day and night with this multi-tasking cream. During the day it acts as a moisturizer and sunscreen, and at night it serves to soothe as a massage oil and get him ready for a restful sleep. The best part of using this product on your kids is that you no longer have to fret if it they get a taste since it’s edible. And we all know that everything goes into their mouthes, from their fingers to their toes, and anything else they can reach.
